AQUAIOTClamp-on ultrasonic flow meters, installed and supported in the UK

Biotechnology and pharma

Read the flow on a process line with nothing in the liquid.

Biotechnology and pharmaceutical plants keep high-purity liquids as clean as they can. A clamp-on ultrasonic meter reads the flow through the pipe wall, so no part of the meter touches the liquid and nothing has to be cut, cleaned or sterilised.

Why measure the flow

Every opening in a clean line is something to manage.

Each joint, port or insert in a high-purity line is a place to clean, validate and keep an eye on. A meter that clamps on the outside adds none of them, which makes it a simple way to see the flow on lines that cannot easily be opened.

Nothing wetted

The transducers sit on the pipe wall, so no part of the meter is in contact with the liquid.

No cutting

The pipe stays intact, so there is no new joint to clean or leak.

No moving parts

There is nothing to wear, stick or shed, and nothing inside the line to replace.

Live fit

A meter can be added to a running line, so a measuring point does not stop production.

How it works

Sound passes through the pipe wall and the liquid, and the flow is read from it.

Two transducers on the outside of the pipe send ultrasonic pulses through the wall and the liquid. The meter times the pulses to calculate the flow, so the liquid is never touched.

  1. We review the lines.

We look at the pipe sizes, the materials and the lines where a flow reading would help most.

  2. Meters clamp onto the pipe.

Each meter is fitted from outside, with no cutting and no draining.

  3. Readings go where you need them.

RS485 Modbus feeds your own systems, and 4G or LoRaWAN telemetry sends the same readings to the AQUAIOT dashboard.

  4. Alarms reach the right people.

A line whose flow leaves its range raises an email or SMS to the team that owns it.

Where it fits

It suits the liquid lines that serve a process area.

The meter reads any liquid line with a pipe size from DN8 to DN100, so one product covers the utility and process lines a facilities team usually wants to see.

Process water lines

See the flow to a process area from a reading taken outside the line.

Cooling and heating loops

Watch the flow through the plant that serves each room or vessel.

Waste water lines

Measure what leaves a suite or a building, without a meter in the waste stream.

Commissioning and checks

Confirm a line delivers the flow it was designed for before it goes into use.

Added measuring points

Put a meter on an existing line without a shutdown.

Trends and records

Every reading is stored and can be exported alongside your own records.

Low-flow alarms

Set a limit on each line and choose who hears when it is crossed.

Why AQUAIOT

We plan, install and support the whole system.

The meters come from specialist manufacturing partners. AQUAIOT selects them for your pipework, installs them, connects them and stays with you after go-live.

  1. System review

We look at the lines, the pipe sizes, the materials and the readings your team already uses.

  2. Installation

Meters are clamped on and connected on site, without cutting a pipe.

  3. Dashboard and alarms

We set the limits for each measuring point with you and choose who hears about each one.

  4. Training and support

Your team learns the dashboard, and we support the system for as long as it runs.

Questions

These are the questions engineering and quality teams ask first.

Does the meter touch the liquid?

No. The transducers sit on the outside of the pipe wall and measure through it, so there is no wetted part and nothing for the liquid to come into contact with.

Is the meter a validated instrument?

No. It gives an independent reading from outside the pipe and is not a validated process instrument. It suits monitoring, comparison and added measuring points, and your quality team decides where each reading is used.

Does a measuring point need a shutdown?

No. The meter clamps onto the outside of the pipe, so nothing is cut and nothing is opened.

Which pipe sizes and materials does it suit?

The AQUAIOT clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter covers DN8 to DN100 on steel, stainless steel, HDPE, cast iron and copper pipe. Tell us about any other pipe material and we will check it with the manufacturer.

How do the readings reach our building systems?

The meter has an RS485 Modbus output for on-site systems, and sends readings to the AQUAIOT dashboard over 4G or LoRaWAN.

Can the readings support our records?

Every reading is stored with its time and can be exported, which gives you a continuous history alongside your own records.

Speak to an expert

Tell us about your process lines and we will plan the metering.

An AQUAIOT engineer will look at the lines, the pipe sizes and the readings you need, and at who has to hear when a flow changes.
