A sealed ultrasonic sensor that warns you before a washroom drain floods.
AlertCap is a self-contained ultrasonic sensor puck, factory-fitted inside a standard PVC cleanout cap. It continuously measures the depth of standing water inside the drain pipe and reports over LoRaWAN to TeraCode’s AppThing cloud platform.
The platform filters out flushes and normal flow and isolates the signal that matters: standing water rising over time, which points to a developing blockage. It then runs the response you set, from a text message to closing the water supply.

Dual ultrasonic transducers
They face down into the pipe and measure the distance to the water surface, with 5 mm resolution across a 3 to 450 cm range.
IP68 with a Viton gasket
The gasket between lid and base keeps sewer gas out, and the puck is waterproof and dustproof.
Conformal-coated electronics
The PCB is coated for long-term corrosion resistance in harsh environments below ground.
Flushes are filtered out
AI-driven analytics tell normal drain activity apart from standing water that keeps rising.
Manual or learned alert levels
Set thresholds by hand, or let the AI engine set them from each sensor’s historical baseline.

Installation
Installation takes four steps and no tools.

Remove the battery pull-tab.
AlertCap powers on and registers itself with the AppThing platform over LoRaWAN.

Remove the existing cleanout plug.
Take out the current 4 inch or 6 inch PVC cleanout cap.

Fit AlertCap by hand.
Seat the assembly in the fitting with the transducers facing down into the pipe, and tighten for a secure fit.

Commission it by QR code.
Scan the code on the unit in the commissioning app, enter the location and save.
UK drain access points vary, and AlertCap is made for standard PVC cleanout fittings, so AQUAIOT confirms the fit on a site survey before anything is ordered.

What does AlertCap measure?
AlertCap measures the distance from its sensor puck down to the water surface inside a drain pipe, using dual ultrasonic transducers. The platform turns that into the depth of standing water and watches for a sustained rise that indicates a developing blockage.
How accurate is AlertCap?
The manufacturer specifies a detection resolution of 5 mm and a detection accuracy of plus or minus (1 + 0.3% of the distance) cm, over a detection range of 3 to 450 cm.
Which sizes are available?
Two models: TCAC0024 for standard 4 inch PVC cleanout fittings and TCAC0026 for standard 6 inch PVC cleanout fittings. We confirm the fit of UK drain access points on a site survey before ordering.
How long does the battery last?
The manufacturer rates the battery life at approximately five years from two 9000 mAh ER26500 lithium thionyl chloride cells. The reporting interval you choose affects real battery life.
