Cost and budgeting

What drives the cost of a leak detection system.

There is no single price for a water leak detection system, because the cost follows your buildings, risk points and how far you want isolation and monitoring to go. AQUAIOT scopes the work to your estate and prices a system that pays back against the loss it prevents.

A fixed quote rarely fits an estate.Buildings differ in risk points, pipework and connectivity, so a one-price package either overspends on simple sites or under-protects the complex ones.
The loss it prevents dwarfs the system. The average burst-pipe claim was around seven thousand five hundred pounds in 2024, and that is before drying, disruption and lost use are counted.
Retrofit and new build cost differently.Fitting into a live, occupied building is scoped differently from designing detection into a new build, and lumping them together hides the real number.
Under-scoping leaves gaps the insurer sees.Insurers pay around one point eight million pounds per day in escape-of-water claims according to the ABI, and a cheap system that misses a risk point offers little defence.
The AQUAIOT Solution

What shapes the price, and where the value sits

The cost of a water leak detection system is driven by the number of buildings and risk points you protect, whether the work is retrofit or part of a new build, how many automatic shut-off zones you need, the connectivity each site can carry and the level of monitoring and integration you want. We weigh that against the loss a single escape of water can cause, then scope a system sized to the risk rather than a fixed package. Every reading, alert and shut-off event is logged and exportable, so the spend is defensible to your insurer and your board.

Risk points set the sensor count. Moisture sensors at risers, plant rooms, tank rooms and under appliances, plus inline flow analytics on each main, so the number of buildings and high-risk zones drives the hardware.
Shut-off zones drive the valve count. Auto-isolation valves on the incoming main and on branches feeding high-risk areas, so how many zones you isolate, not the building size alone, shapes the cost.
Connectivity and integration scale the spend. Secure cellular or LoRaWAN telemetry per site, plus dashboards and APIs into SCADA, AIMS, CAFM or BMS where you want the data to land, sized to the monitoring level you choose.

How It Works

Three steps from first drop to evidence

Step 01

Detect

AQUAIOT moisture, flow and freeze sensors are deployed at the points water escapes. Every reading is timestamped and logged to the cloud over secure cellular or LoRaWAN telemetry.

Step 02

Alert and isolate

When moisture is sensed or flow goes abnormal, AQUAIOT raises an immediate alert by SMS, email and app, and closes the auto-isolation valve so water is stopped before damage spreads.

Step 03

Record

Every reading, alert and isolation event is captured in exportable, timestamped logs that integrate with CAFM and BMS, so evidence for insurers is ready on demand.

Capabilities

Everything a leak detection programme needs

Purpose-built for estates, facilities and risk teams protecting buildings against escape of water across single or multiple sites.

Moisture sensing at the risk points

Point, rope and tray sensors detect water at first contact under appliances, in plant rooms, risers and tank rooms, before it spreads.

Inline flow analytics

Continuous flow monitoring on the incoming main learns normal use and flags the slow weep or continuous draw a manual check never sees.

Freeze protection

Temperature monitoring on exposed and loft pipework warns before a freeze leads to a burst, so action can be taken in time.

Automatic shut-off

Auto-isolation valves close the supply the moment a moisture or abnormal-flow threshold is crossed, with manual remote override for the duty holder.

Multi-channel alerts with escalation

SMS, email and app alerts with role-based routing, so the right person responds day or night, on a single site or across a portfolio.

Open integration, no lock-in

Connects to BMS, CAFM and SCADA via RS485/Modbus or REST API, with audit-ready exportable records for insurers and owners.

Questions & Answers

Common questions

How much does a water leak detection system cost?
There is no fixed figure, because the cost follows the number of buildings and risk points, retrofit or new build, how many shut-off zones you need and the level of monitoring and integration. We scope your estate and return a costed quote.
What are the main cost drivers?
The sensor count from your risk points, the valve count from your shut-off zones, the connectivity each site carries and how far you integrate dashboards and APIs into SCADA, AIMS, CAFM or BMS.
Is retrofit more expensive than new build?
They are scoped differently. Retrofit uses non-invasive sensors and clamp-on ultrasonic flow with no pipe cutting, while new build designs detection in from the start, so we price each on its own terms.
How do you justify the spend?
Against the loss prevented. With the average burst-pipe claim around seven thousand five hundred pounds in 2024, a system that isolates the supply early protects against a far larger bill, and the logs give your insurer a defensible record.
Will a quote commit us to the full system at once?
No. A scoped quote can be phased by building or risk priority, so you can protect the highest-risk sites first and extend across the estate as budget allows.
