LoRaWAN leak detection

Leak sensing that reaches the whole estate.

LoRaWAN carries sensor data across long distances on very little power, so one gateway can cover a campus, a tower or a spread of buildings. AQUAIOT uses it to watch moisture and flow at estate scale without a cable to every point or a SIM in every sensor.

Live monitoring. Automatic shut-off.

Cabling an estate is impractical.Running wire to every sensing point across many buildings is slow and costly, so most large sites end up only partly protected, if at all.
A SIM in every sensor adds up.Cellular on each point means a data plan per sensor, and at estate scale that recurring cost and admin grows fast.
Signal struggles in basements and risers.Risk points often sit in plant rooms, basements and tank rooms where many wireless signals fade, leaving exactly the wrong spots uncovered.
The loss runs at portfolio scale.Insurers pay around 1.8 million pounds per day in escape-of-water claims according to the ABI, and an estate with patchy coverage carries more of that risk.
The AQUAIOT Solution

Long range, low power, estate scale

Detection at scale runs into two limits: distance and power. LoRaWAN answers both. A single gateway reaches sensors across a large site and through basements and risers where other signals struggle, while the radio sips so little power that sensors run for years on a battery. AQUAIOT uses LoRaWAN to gather moisture and flow readings from across an estate into one platform, with encrypted payloads, over-the-air updates and APIs into the systems your team already runs.

One gateway, wide coverage. LoRaWAN reaches sensors across a campus, tower or spread of buildings, and through basements and risers where other wireless signals struggle to carry.
Low power for years of battery life. The radio draws so little that battery sensors run for years, so an estate-wide fleet does not turn into a constant round of battery changes.
Secure data into one platform. Payloads are encrypted, firmware updates arrive over the air, and readings feed a role-based dashboard with APIs into SCADA, CAFM and BMS.

How It Works

Three steps from first drop to evidence

Step 01

Detect

AQUAIOT moisture, flow and freeze sensors are deployed at the points water escapes. Every reading is timestamped and logged to the cloud over secure cellular or LoRaWAN telemetry.

Step 02

Alert and isolate

When moisture is sensed or flow goes abnormal, AQUAIOT raises an immediate alert by SMS, email and app, and closes the auto-isolation valve so water is stopped before damage spreads.

Step 03

Record

Every reading, alert and isolation event is captured in exportable, timestamped logs that integrate with CAFM and BMS, so evidence for insurers is ready on demand.

Capabilities

Everything a leak detection programme needs

Purpose-built for estates, facilities and risk teams protecting buildings against escape of water across single or multiple sites.

Moisture sensing at the risk points

Point, rope and tray sensors detect water at first contact under appliances, in plant rooms, risers and tank rooms, before it spreads.

Inline flow analytics

Continuous flow monitoring on the incoming main learns normal use and flags the slow weep or continuous draw a manual check never sees.

Freeze protection

Temperature monitoring on exposed and loft pipework warns before a freeze leads to a burst, so action can be taken in time.

Automatic shut-off

Auto-isolation valves close the supply the moment a moisture or abnormal-flow threshold is crossed, with manual remote override for the duty holder.

Multi-channel alerts with escalation

SMS, email and app alerts with role-based routing, so the right person responds day or night, on a single site or across a portfolio.

Open integration, no lock-in

Connects to BMS, CAFM and SCADA via RS485/Modbus or REST API, with audit-ready exportable records for insurers and owners.

Questions & Answers

Common questions

What is LoRaWAN leak detection?
It uses LoRaWAN radio to carry moisture and flow readings across long distances on very little power, so one gateway can cover a campus or a spread of buildings.
Why use LoRaWAN over cellular for an estate?
LoRaWAN avoids a SIM and data plan on every sensor, reaches across a large site from one gateway and runs for years on a battery, which suits estate scale.
Does it reach basements and risers?
Yes. LoRaWAN carries through basements, plant rooms and risers where many wireless signals fade, which is exactly where leak risk often sits.
Is the data secure and kept current?
Yes. Payloads are encrypted, firmware updates arrive over the air, and readings feed a role-based dashboard with APIs into SCADA, CAFM and BMS, with no lock-in.
Can it trigger automatic shut-off?
Yes. A LoRaWAN moisture or flow trigger can close a motorised auto-isolation valve and escalate to the duty holder, so detection and prevention work together at scale.
