Leak detection for insurance brokers

Place difficult water risks with confidence.

Real-time moisture and flow monitoring with automatic shut-off that lets you show underwriters a risk is being actively managed, so you can place tricky water exposures and steer clients toward smoother renewals.

Difficult water risks are hard to place.A property with a claims history or known exposure can take repeated trips to the market before anyone offers terms.
You have little to show the underwriter.Without monitoring there is no objective evidence that the client is doing anything to manage water risk between renewals.
Renewals get tougher every year.Repeated water claims push premiums and excesses up, and the renewal conversation gets harder each time it comes round.
Advice that does not change the risk falls flat.Clients want help reducing exposure, not just rearranging cover, and there is often little practical advice to give.
The AQUAIOT Solution

Leak detection that helps you place and retain risk

Water-damaged risks are getting harder to place, and a client with a claims history can be a long conversation with the market. AQUAIOT gives you something to put in front of an underwriter: continuous monitoring catches a leak early, automatic shut-off contains it, and timestamped records show the risk is being actively managed, which helps you place difficult exposures and bring clients to renewal in better shape.

Place exposures the market resists. A monitored property with automatic shut-off gives an underwriter evidence of active management, which can open doors that a bare claims history closes.
Help clients improve the risk itself. Recommending monitoring is advice that reduces the chance and size of a claim, not just the paperwork, and it strengthens your standing with the client.
Bring clients to smoother renewals. Auditable evidence of proactive management supports the renewal conversation, on a line where insurers pay around 1.8 million pounds a day in escape-of-water claims.

How It Works

Three steps from first drop to evidence

Step 01

Detect

AQUAIOT moisture, flow and freeze sensors are deployed at the points water escapes. Every reading is timestamped and logged to the cloud over secure cellular or LoRaWAN telemetry.

Step 02

Alert and isolate

When moisture is sensed or flow goes abnormal, AQUAIOT raises an immediate alert by SMS, email and app, and closes the auto-isolation valve so water is stopped before damage spreads.

Step 03

Record

Every reading, alert and isolation event is captured in exportable, timestamped logs that integrate with CAFM and BMS, so evidence for insurers is ready on demand.

Capabilities

Everything a leak detection programme needs

Purpose-built for estates, facilities and risk teams protecting buildings against escape of water across single or multiple sites.

Moisture sensing at the risk points

Point, rope and tray sensors detect water at first contact under appliances, in plant rooms, risers and tank rooms, before it spreads.

Inline flow analytics

Continuous flow monitoring on the incoming main learns normal use and flags the slow weep or continuous draw a manual check never sees.

Freeze protection

Temperature monitoring on exposed and loft pipework warns before a freeze leads to a burst, so action can be taken in time.

Automatic shut-off

Auto-isolation valves close the supply the moment a moisture or abnormal-flow threshold is crossed, with manual remote override for the duty holder.

Multi-channel alerts with escalation

SMS, email and app alerts with role-based routing, so the right person responds day or night, on a single site or across a portfolio.

Open integration, no lock-in

Connects to BMS, CAFM and SCADA via RS485/Modbus or REST API, with audit-ready exportable records for insurers and owners.

Questions & Answers

Common questions

How does this help me place difficult risks?
A monitored property with automatic shut-off gives the underwriter objective evidence that water risk is being actively managed, which can open terms that a bare claims history would not.
How does it help my clients?
Recommending monitoring is advice that reduces the chance and size of a claim, which improves the underlying risk and strengthens your standing as an adviser, not just a broker of cover.
Does it help with renewals?
Yes. Timestamped, exportable records of detection and shut-off support the renewal conversation by showing the risk is being managed between policy years.
Can it reduce a client premium?
Some insurers recognise active monitoring and automatic shut-off, with up to around 8 percent premium reduction cited as industry potential, but any decision rests with the insurer.
Will it suit my clients existing buildings?
Yes. The sensors are retrofit-friendly and non-invasive, run over cellular and LoRaWAN, and expose APIs and Modbus so they fit existing buildings without major works.
