Indiott: What Our Sister Company Monitors When the Asset Is Not Water

TL;DR: Indiott is the industrial IoT arm of PSI Technologies Limited and the sister company to AQUAIOT. AQUAIOT engineers the water side of a site, and Indiott supplies the rest of the industrial IoT stack: LoRaWAN sensors, gateways, industrial networking, OT security, controllers and dashboards. Its catalogue holds 255 published products across Milesight, ATOP Technologies, Browan, SpecSens and its own in-house engineering, with 93 of them priced and buyable online and the remainder quoted within one working day.

Key takeaways

  • Indiott is the industrial IoT arm of PSI Technologies Limited, a UK company incorporated on 29 December 1998 and registered at Companies House under number 03689664.
  • AQUAIOT and Indiott are sister companies and share a site at Stratfield Park in Waterlooville, Hampshire, and the phone number 023 9223 3611.
  • The split is simple. If the asset is water, it is an AQUAIOT job. If the asset is a switchboard, a fridge, a door, a generator, a network or a machine, it is an Indiott job.
  • The Indiott catalogue holds 255 published products. 93 of them carry a price and can be bought online; the rest are industrial lines quoted within one working day.
  • Both companies run sensors over the same LoRaWAN radio at EU868, so one gateway can carry a water sensor and a temperature sensor at the same time.
  • Indiott covers five layers that most sensor resellers do not: sense, connect, secure, control and manage, including OT network security and satellite backhaul.

The division of labour: water on one side, everything else on the other.

Most of the people who read this blog look after a site, not a pipe. A hospital estates manager who needs calorifier temperatures also needs the server room watched. A housing provider chasing damp evidence also runs a plant room, a lift and a bin store. A water utility with 4,000 chambers also runs cabinets, generators and a radio network holding it together.

AQUAIOT does one thing and does it properly, which is water. This article is about the company that picks up everything else on the same site, and how to tell which of us to call.

What is Indiott?

Indiott is a UK industrial IoT supplier that specifies, sells and supports the complete industrial monitoring stack, from battery sensors through to network security and dashboards. It is the industrial IoT arm of PSI Technologies Limited, a company registered at Companies House under number 03689664 and incorporated on 29 December 1998.

That date matters more than it looks. The engineers who specify an industrial stack are only useful if they are still there in year six of the deployment, when a gateway needs replacing or a protocol needs adding. Indiott has been trading in UK industrial technology for more than 25 years under the same registered company.

The trading position is narrower than the parent company. Indiott sells hardware and the engineering around it: LoRaWAN sensors, gateways, industrial routers, managed switches, serial and Modbus gateways, protocol gateways, edge computers, controllers and AI cameras. It publishes prices on the lines it stocks, ships from the UK, and answers quotes on the unpriced industrial lines within one working day.

Who Indiott sells to

The buyer profile overlaps heavily with AQUAIOT’s. Indiott publishes 30 sector pages, each anchored to the UK regulation that actually drives the spend in that sector, including Ofwat AMP8, HACCP, MHRA GDP, ACOP L8, Awaab’s Law, the Building Safety Act and COMAH. The sectors range from water utilities and local government to healthcare, cold chain, data centres and rail.

Indiott and AQUAIOT are sister companies operating from the same address at Units 10-11 Stratfield Park, Elettra Avenue, Waterlooville, Hampshire, and reachable on the same number, 023 9223 3611. They are separate legal entities. AQUAIOT LTD is registered at Companies House under number 16585190, and Indiott trades as the industrial IoT arm of PSI Technologies Limited.

They are not competitors and they do not chase each other’s work. Indiott’s own water utility page says so plainly: water utilities are served by its sister brand, because water is where AQUAIOT engineers rather than resells.

The practical consequence for a buyer is that a single site survey can end in two quotes that share a radio network, a gateway plan and a dashboard, without either company pretending to expertise it does not have.

What does Indiott actually sell?

Indiott publishes 255 products. Of those, 93 carry a live price and can be added to a basket; the remainder are industrial lines that are quoted, normally inside one working day. Every priced product is Milesight, because that is the range Indiott holds as a UK distributor.

The unpriced lines are where the catalogue gets interesting for anyone running infrastructure. They cover ATOP Technologies industrial Ethernet switches, serial device servers, Modbus and protocol gateways and PTP grandmaster clocks, Browan LoRaWAN devices, SpecSens water quality instruments, and Indiott’s own in-house engineering.

The brands in one place

  • Milesight for the battery LoRaWAN sensor range: temperature, humidity, CO2, leak, level, door, tilt, current, occupancy and GPS, plus the UG63, UG65, UG67 and solar SG50 gateways.
  • ATOP Technologies for the wired backbone: managed and unmanaged industrial switches, serial to Ethernet, Modbus and IEC 61850 protocol gateways, and time synchronisation.
  • Browan for compact LoRaWAN end devices.
  • SpecSens for water quality instruments, which is the one place the two catalogues genuinely meet.
  • AquaIoT products, listed on Indiott and supplied into industrial projects that need a water element.
  • Indiott Engineering for the products it builds itself, including a smart bin, a weight-sensing smart shelf, a dust monitor and a smart cooling box.

Five layers. Most sensor resellers stop at the first two.

What is the five-layer stack?

Indiott organises its catalogue into five layers: sense, connect, secure, control and manage. The layers exist because a monitoring project fails at whichever one nobody owns, and in practice that is usually layer three.

Sense is the battery sensor layer. Low-power devices measuring temperature, humidity, leak, level, air quality, occupancy, energy and vibration, most with multi-year battery life.

Connect is the backhaul. Indoor and IP67 outdoor LoRaWAN gateways, 4G and 5G industrial routers, industrial Ethernet, and satellite non-terrestrial network fall-back for assets beyond any network.

Secure is the layer almost nobody quotes for. Managed switching, protocol gateways and hardware-enforced data diodes for operational technology security, specified to IEC 62443. If a monitoring system is bolted onto a control network without this layer, the monitoring project has just become a security problem.

Control is where monitoring stops being passive. Modbus controllers, remote input and output, and solenoid valve controllers that let a reading trigger an action.

Manage is the dashboard, mapping and analytics layer, plus the alert routing that decides who gets woken up.

AQUAIOT delivers all five layers too, but only for water. Indiott delivers them for everything else, which is why a shared site plan works.

Which Indiott sensors matter on a water site?

Six Indiott sensor families earn their place on a site that already has AQUAIOT water monitoring, because they cover the failure modes that sit next to water rather than in it.

Plant room and server room temperature. A calorifier reading tells you the water is compliant. It does not tell you the plant room hit 38 degrees because a fan failed. Indiott’s ambient and probe temperature sensors cover the room the water asset sits in.

Door, hatch and cabinet contacts. Chamber lids, kiosk doors, plant room doors and control cabinets, logged open and closed with instant alerts. A wet well with a level sensor and no door contact still has an unmonitored access route.

Energy and current. Clamp-on current transformers on a pump circuit will tell you a pump is drawing more than it did last month, which is a bearing failing, weeks before the level sensor sees the consequence.

Air quality and CO2. Confined space and plant room ventilation, classroom and office CO2, and washroom odour, all on the same radio.

Tilt and vibration. Barriers, lids, poles and rotating plant. Angle change on a chamber lid or a street cabinet is a tamper alert that costs less than a camera.

Occupancy and footfall. Radar, thermopile and time-of-flight sensing for desks, doorways and rooms, bought outright with no per-desk subscription.

What can Indiott monitor that AQUAIOT does not?

Seven system types sit entirely outside AQUAIOT’s scope and entirely inside Indiott’s. They are the reason this article exists.

  1. Cold chain and food safety. Fridge, freezer and cold room probes with continuous logging against HACCP and MHRA GDP expectations, including vaccine fridge monitoring for pharmacies and GP practices.
  2. Building environment and damp evidence. Continuous humidity and temperature per room, which is the evidence base a social landlord needs for damp and mould triage under Awaab’s Law.
  3. Energy and net zero. Circuit-level electricity monitoring with clamp CTs and metering sockets, plus pulse counters that read gas and electricity meters that were never designed to talk.
  4. Industrial networking and OT security. Managed industrial Ethernet, fibre media conversion, protocol gateways and data diodes. This is the layer that keeps a monitoring rollout from becoming an attack surface.
  5. Legacy plant integration. Modbus data loggers and serial device servers that bridge RS485 meters, panels and plant to a cloud dashboard without touching the PLC.
  6. Asset tracking and plant security. LoRaWAN GPS trackers for trailers, skips, plant and tools, with no per-asset SIM fee.
  7. Off-grid and satellite. Solar gateways and satellite backhaul for sites where there is no mains and no cellular coverage at all.

Do the two systems share a network?

Yes. Both companies run LoRaWAN sensors in the EU868 band, which is the licence-exempt band used for LoRaWAN in the UK and Europe. A single gateway carries traffic from any LoRaWAN device within range, regardless of which company sold it.

In practice that means the gateway installed for a set of water level sensors can also carry the plant room temperature sensor, the cabinet door contact and the current clamp on the pump circuit, at no extra network cost. A Milesight UG65 or UG67 handles thousands of devices across eight channels, so the gateway is almost never the constraint.

The constraint is airtime and duty cycle, not device count. A sensor reporting every 10 minutes and a sensor reporting every hour cost very different amounts of shared airtime, which is a conversation worth having before either company specifies the reporting interval.

What that means for a survey

One site survey can produce one radio plan. The gateway positions, the backhaul and the antenna work are done once. The sensor lists are then split by asset type, and each company quotes its own part. Nobody pays twice for coverage.

How do you buy from Indiott?

There are two routes, and the catalogue is explicit about which is which.

Priced and online. 93 products carry a live ex-VAT price and can be bought directly. There is also a kit builder that takes what you want to monitor and where the gateway goes, and returns a complete parts list with the right gateway for the site.

Quoted. The industrial lines, the ATOP networking, the SpecSens instruments and anything that needs engineering are quoted, normally inside one working day.

UK orders are dispatched within 14 working days, then one to three working days in transit. That is a real lead time rather than a next-day promise, which is worth knowing when a deployment date is fixed.

Decision chart asking whether the asset holds or carries water, routing water assets to AQUAIOT and all other assets to the industrial IoT supplier
The one question that decides which number to call.

Which of us should you call?

Ask one question: does the asset hold, carry or treat water?

If the answer is yes, call AQUAIOT. That covers tanks, sewers, drains, chambers, watercourses, pipework, calorifiers, loops, outlets, dosing lines and anything with a water compliance duty attached to it. AQUAIOT surveys the site, places the sensors, installs and calibrates them, and supports the deployment afterwards. Start at the AQUAIOT product range, or go straight to leak detection, Legionella monitoring or radar level monitoring.

If the answer is no, call Indiott. That covers the plant, the building, the network, the power, the cold chain, the vehicles and the people flow.

If the answer is both, which it usually is, say so on the first call. One survey, one radio plan, two quotes.

Frequently asked questions

Is Indiott the same company as AQUAIOT?

No. They are separate registered companies and sister brands. AQUAIOT LTD is company number 16585190. Indiott is the industrial IoT arm of PSI Technologies Limited, company number 03689664. They share an address at Stratfield Park in Waterlooville and a phone number, and they refer work to each other rather than competing.

Can I buy water sensors from Indiott instead of AQUAIOT?

You can buy water hardware from Indiott, including AquaIoT clamp-on flow meters, leak sensors and smart water butts, plus the SpecSens water quality instrument range. The difference is scope rather than stock. Indiott supplies the device; AQUAIOT surveys the site, specifies the placement, installs, calibrates and supports the deployment, and takes on the compliance evidence side.

Does Indiott publish prices?

Partly. 93 of its 255 published products carry a live ex-VAT price and can be bought online, and all of those are Milesight. The industrial lines, including ATOP networking and SpecSens instruments, are quote-only and answered within one working day.

Will Indiott sensors work on an existing AQUAIOT gateway?

If the gateway is a LoRaWAN gateway on EU868 and you have access to its network server, yes. Both catalogues use the same radio standard. What needs checking first is the device limit configured on that particular gateway, the reporting intervals already in use, and who owns the network server the new devices will join.

What does Indiott cover that a normal sensor reseller does not?

Two layers. The first is operational technology security, meaning managed industrial switching, protocol gateways and hardware data diodes specified to IEC 62443. The second is bespoke engineering, where Indiott and PSI Technologies build a device that does not exist off the shelf.

How long does delivery take?

UK orders dispatch within 14 working days, then one to three working days in transit. Quotes for unpriced lines are answered within one working day.

Which company do I call about a leak?

AQUAIOT, every time. Leak detection that stops at an alert is only half the job. The AQUAIOT deployment routes the alert by role, escalates it if nobody acts, and in higher-risk zones drives an isolation valve so the supply is cut automatically.

Where to go next

If the asset is water, start with the AQUAIOT solution range and speak to an engineer. We will survey the site and quote the water side properly.

If the asset is not water, Indiott is the number to call, and the solutions index is the fastest way to find the one that matches your asset.

If it is both, tell whoever answers. The survey is shared, and so is the radio plan.
