Dosing Pump Retrofit

Replace the dosing pump,
keep the rest of the skid.

The tank, the suction line, the controller and the analyser all stay. The pump comes off and a MAC dosing valve goes on the same line, provided there is pressure to dose into.

The case for change

What a pump swap actually involves

Most dosing skids are built around the pump, so replacing it sounds like rebuilding the kiosk. In practice the chemical tank, the suction line, the analyser and the injection point all stay exactly where they are. What changes is the dosing element on the line and the fact that it now needs the line’s pressure rather than making its own.

01

Pulsation errors costing you compliance

Stroke-based pumps create pulsation at low flows, causing dosing inaccuracy, downstream mixing problems, and dose logs that cannot be defended in an audit.

02

Tubing failures and unplanned downtime

Peristaltic tubing splits under chemical exposure. Every failure means a reactive call-out, replacement parts, and a window where dosing has stopped entirely.

03

High maintenance across multiple failure points

Check valves, diaphragms, tubing, and motors all need regular servicing. Each failure point is a separate maintenance task and a separate cost line.

04

Accuracy drift as components wear

Pump accuracy degrades as internals wear. The further from original design point, the worse the drift, and the harder it is to keep dose logs within spec.

Smart dosing integration

How AQUAIOT connects MAC valves to your water system

From sensor input to auditable dose log, in four steps.

1

Monitor

AQUAIOT sensors measure flow, conductivity, and water quality in real time. Data streams to the edge controller continuously.

2

Decide

Cloud logic and local edge rules calculate the dosing requirement against set-points, flow conditions, and time windows.

3

Dose

The MAC LBV fires precise solenoid pulses. Pulse width, frequency, and duration are all configurable from the AQUAIOT dashboard.

4

Prove

Every dose event is logged with timestamp, volume and sensor context from the day of the swap, so the before and after is data rather than opinion.

Integration and control

Built for your existing infrastructure

SCADA and BMS

MODBUS RS485 and API connections. Direct integration with existing control systems without replacing your architecture.

Closed-loop dosing

Flow, conductivity, or quality sensor feedback adjusts dosing in real time. No manual trim, no operator intervention.

Compliance logging

Timestamped dose records from the moment the valve goes on the line. Exportable evidence that survives the change of dosing element.

4G and LoRaWAN

Secure cellular telemetry. Encrypted payloads, over-the-air configuration, remote firmware updates.

PWM and proportional

On/off pulse, pulse-width modulation, or 0-10V / 4-20mA proportional control from one valve platform.

Cloud dashboard

Trendlines, alarms, analytics, role-based access, and data export from the AQUAIOT platform.

The retrofit

What changes, what stays

A pump swap that touches the dosing element and leaves the rest of the skid alone. Part of the full chemical dosing valve range.

A one-line retrofit

The pump, its motor and its check valves come off. The tank, suction line, injection point and controller stay, and the valve takes the same signal.

The one thing you must have is pressure at the injection point. Without it there is nothing to dose into, and the pump should stay.

Common questions

Dosing pump replacement questions

There has to be pressure in the line at the injection point, because the valve doses into it rather than generating its own head. That is the real constraint and it is worth checking first. If the discharge is an open tank, a channel or a sump with nothing to dose into, keep the pump where it is.
The chemical tank, the suction line, the strainer, the injection point and, in most cases, the controller and analyser driving the dose. The valve accepts the same signal the pump took. That is why this is usually a manifold change on one line rather than a kiosk rebuild.
No. Flow-proportional, residual-trim and timed dosing all carry over, because the valve accepts on/off, PWM or proportional control. What changes is delivery. The dose arrives without slugs, so a loop that was tuned to ride out pump pulses can usually be tightened afterwards.
Yes, and that is the usual way to start. One duty, one line, one valve, with telemetry on it so you can compare it against the pumps still running beside it. Nothing about the valve requires a whole site to change at once, and one line tells you plenty.
BV214 and BV221 cores cover micro-litre to low-L/min dosing at up to roughly 8 to 10 bar, depending on orifice, body and elastomer selection.
The balanced poppet equalises upstream pressure variation, so dose volume per pulse stays consistent regardless of supply fluctuations, unlike a pump that drifts with wear.
There is no tubing to replace, no check valves to service and no motor wear. Cartridge-replaceable internals mean field service without removing the valve from the manifold.
Yes. MODBUS RS485 and API connections for SCADA, BMS, CAFM and the AQUAIOT cloud platform, with closed-loop control from flow, conductivity or water quality feedback.
