Pump Free Dosing

No pump on the skid.
Dose straight into the pressurised line.

If the line already carries pressure, you do not need a machine to make more of it. A MAC dosing valve meters chemical into the pressure that is there, with far fewer wear parts.

The case for change

Why the pump was there in the first place

A dosing pump exists to solve one problem: getting chemical into a line that sits at higher pressure than the tank. It does that by carrying a motor, a stroke mechanism, check valves and a diaphragm or a tube, and each of those becomes something to maintain. Where the line is already pressurised, a valve can meter into that pressure directly and most of the machine stops being necessary.

01

Pulsation errors costing you compliance

Stroke-based pumps create pulsation at low flows, causing dosing inaccuracy, downstream mixing problems, and dose logs that cannot be defended in an audit.

02

Tubing failures and unplanned downtime

Peristaltic tubing splits under chemical exposure. Every failure means a reactive call-out, replacement parts, and a window where dosing has stopped entirely.

03

High maintenance across multiple failure points

Check valves, diaphragms, tubing, and motors all need regular servicing. Each failure point is a separate maintenance task and a separate cost line.

04

Accuracy drift as components wear

Pump accuracy degrades as internals wear. The further from original design point, the worse the drift, and the harder it is to keep dose logs within spec.

Smart dosing integration

How AQUAIOT connects MAC valves to your water system

From sensor input to auditable dose log, in four steps.

1

Monitor

AQUAIOT sensors measure flow, conductivity, and water quality in real time. Data streams to the edge controller continuously.

2

Decide

Cloud logic and local edge rules calculate the dosing requirement against set-points, flow conditions, and time windows.

3

Dose

The MAC LBV fires precise solenoid pulses. Pulse width, frequency, and duration are all configurable from the AQUAIOT dashboard.

4

Prove

Every dose event is logged with timestamp, volume and sensor context, so losing the pump does not mean losing sight of the dose. It usually means seeing it properly for the first time.

Integration and control

Built for your existing infrastructure

SCADA and BMS

MODBUS RS485 and API connections. Direct integration with existing control systems without replacing your architecture.

Closed-loop dosing

Flow, conductivity, or quality sensor feedback adjusts dosing in real time. No manual trim, no operator intervention.

Compliance logging

Timestamped dose records with no pump in the chain. Exportable evidence of each dose event and the sensor context around it.

4G and LoRaWAN

Secure cellular telemetry. Encrypted payloads, over-the-air configuration, remote firmware updates.

PWM and proportional

On/off pulse, pulse-width modulation, or 0-10V / 4-20mA proportional control from one valve platform.

Cloud dashboard

Trendlines, alarms, analytics, role-based access, and data export from the AQUAIOT platform.

The architecture

What a pump free dosing point looks like

A dosing point built around line pressure instead of a machine that makes its own. Part of the full chemical dosing valve range.

Use the pressure you have

The pump exists to make head. On a line that already has pressure, a valve can meter into it directly and the motor, stroke and check valves stop being necessary.

What is left is a solenoid valve on a manifold, a balanced poppet setting volume per pulse, and telemetry logging every dose event.

Common questions

Pump free dosing questions

By using the pressure already in the line. The valve opens for a controlled pulse and the balanced poppet meters a consistent volume into the flow, so nothing needs to generate head. That takes the motor, the stroke mechanism and the check valves out of the dosing point completely.
When the discharge has no pressure to dose into. Open tanks, launders, channels and unpressurised sumps give the valve nothing to work against, and a pump is the right answer there. Very high volume transfer duty also stays pump territory. This suits an injection point on a live pressurised line.
The pump, its motor, its stroke mechanism, its check valves and, where one is fitted, the pulsation damper. The tank, the suction line and the injection point all stay. What replaces the pump is a compact solenoid valve on a manifold, driven by the signal that used to drive the pump.
The chemical stays inside a sealed valve body rather than a squeezed tube, and there is no pump case for a split tube to fill. Any work on a live pressurised line still needs proper isolation and the usual COSHH controls, so treat the injection point exactly as you would today.
BV214 and BV221 cores cover micro-litre to low-L/min dosing at up to roughly 8 to 10 bar, depending on orifice, body and elastomer selection.
The balanced poppet equalises upstream pressure variation, so dose volume per pulse stays consistent regardless of supply fluctuations, unlike a pump that drifts with wear.
There is no tubing to replace, no check valves to service and no motor wear. Cartridge-replaceable internals mean field service without removing the valve from the manifold.
Yes. MODBUS RS485 and API connections for SCADA, BMS, CAFM and the AQUAIOT cloud platform, with closed-loop control from flow, conductivity or water quality feedback.
