The case for change

Why injection points are where dosing fails

The injection point is the hardest place in a dosing system. It sits on a live main, it is the last thing anybody wants to break into, and it is where an injection pump’s check valves and lance have to work against full line pressure. When that assembly fouls or leaks back, the process loses its dose and the fix means work on a pressurised main.

01

Pulsation errors costing you compliance

Stroke-based pumps create pulsation at low flows, causing dosing inaccuracy, downstream mixing problems, and dose logs that cannot be defended in an audit.

02

Tubing failures and unplanned downtime

Peristaltic tubing splits under chemical exposure. Every failure means a reactive call-out, replacement parts, and a window where dosing has stopped entirely.

03

High maintenance across multiple failure points

Check valves, diaphragms, tubing, and motors all need regular servicing. Each failure point is a separate maintenance task and a separate cost line.

04

Accuracy drift as components wear

Pump accuracy degrades as internals wear. The further from original design point, the worse the drift, and the harder it is to keep dose logs within spec.

Smart dosing integration

How AQUAIOT connects MAC valves to your water system

From sensor input to auditable dose log, in four steps.

1

Monitor

AQUAIOT sensors measure flow, conductivity, and water quality in real time. Data streams to the edge controller continuously.

2

Decide

Cloud logic and local edge rules calculate the dosing requirement against set-points, flow conditions, and time windows.

3

Dose

The MAC LBV fires precise solenoid pulses. Pulse width, frequency, and duration are all configurable from the AQUAIOT dashboard.

4

Prove

Every injection event is logged with timestamp, volume and sensor context, so a process engineer can tie a quality excursion back to what was injected and when.

Integration and control

Injection duty

Where chemical injection fits

Process and industrial lines where chemical has to go into a main that is already live. Part of the full chemical dosing valve range.

Injection into a live main

The injection point carries full line pressure, which is where an injection pump’s check valves and lance foul, leak back and quietly cost the process its dose.

The valve meters into that pressure instead of fighting it, with the poppet holding volume per pulse as the main moves through the shift.

Pressurised main

Chemical metering valve

A repeatable dose per pulse from the balanced poppet, counted and logged.

Metering

Pump free chemical dosing

Dose into an existing pressurised line, with no pump and far fewer wear parts.

Architecture

Wastewater treatment

Accurate ferric and polymer dosing for tighter phosphorus consents.

Common questions

Chemical injection valve questions

A solenoid actuated valve that meters chemical into a pressurised line under control from a signal, taking the place of an injection pump at the injection point. It uses the main’s own pressure rather than generating head, so the dosing element is a valve body and a poppet, not a machine with a motor.
That is exactly the case it is built for. The valve meters into the pressure in the main rather than fighting it, which is what the balanced poppet is there to handle. Breaking into a live main is still a controlled job, so plan the tapping and the isolation with the engineer who specifies the valve.
The balanced poppet equalises upstream pressure variation, so injected volume per pulse stays consistent when the main moves. That matters on a process line where pumps starting and valves closing shift pressure through the shift, and where an injection pump’s delivered volume would move along with it.
Tell us the chemical and we will answer that properly. The valve body and elastomer are selected specifically for the duty, with options including PTFE, FKM and EPDM. Confirm concentration and temperature with an engineer before anything is specified, because that selection is a safety matter rather than a catalogue lookup.
BV214 and BV221 cores cover micro-litre to low-L/min dosing at up to roughly 8 to 10 bar, depending on orifice, body and elastomer selection.
The balanced poppet equalises upstream pressure variation, so dose volume per pulse stays consistent regardless of supply fluctuations, unlike a pump that drifts with wear.
There is no tubing to replace, no check valves to service and no motor wear. Cartridge-replaceable internals mean field service without removing the valve from the manifold.
Yes. MODBUS RS485 and API connections for SCADA, BMS, CAFM and the AQUAIOT cloud platform, with closed-loop control from flow, conductivity or water quality feedback.
